LIBBY HANNELLE – Miss Adelaide

THIS is Libby’s eighth production with LOS – but only her third time onstage with the company. Libby “cut her teeth” in Woking starting as an older member of the Youth Theatre and other local; parts included Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Nkomis in Hiawatha (making her entrance with a 9’ flat fall into the arms of 6 men!), Bloody Mary in South Pacific and Madame Dubonnet in The Boyfriend.

  Lucy

LUCY HALL – Sarah Brown

THIS is Lucy’s first production with LOS. Studying Music, Drama and Music Technology at college, she gained qualifications in speech and drama, classical singing, music theory and teaching. Previous roles have included Frau Schneider in Cabaret, Nettie in Carousel and Crystal in Little Shop of Horrors, which she toured with to Germany.
  Gill

GILL GARRATT – General Cartwright

GILL is a familiar face on the LOS stage - she joined the society in 1976 and has been involved in all but eight productions since then. Two personal ‘productions’ have swelled the LOS ranks – her daughter and son both appear in this show!
  Dave

DAVID HACKETT – Big Jule

DAVID joined LOS in 1992, having been convinced that he was the ideal person for the part of a policeman in Pirates of Penzance. He has been a regular member of the chorus ever since, occasionally playing principal parts such as Everett Baker (Crazy for You) and Drake (Annie).
  Anthony

ANTHONY CHALMERS – Nathan Detroit

A newcomer to East Sussex, Anthony discovered Lewes Operatic Society when he found himself sharing an office with a previous MD (Bryn Bridges), and is absolutely delighted to be making his debut playing the role of Nathan Detroit. In his previous life in London he was a regular with BROS Theatre Company and the open-air Minack Theatre in Cornwall.

  Adrian

ADRIAN SAMUEL – Sky Masterson

WHY did Adrian audition for the part of Sky? “It’s a top part – suave successful gangster, respected amongst his peers, gets his girl, lots of on-stage kissing a lovely selection of timeless songs and very little dancing!” he says. Adrian has taken many lead roles in various societies in Sussex including several here at LOS.

  Neil

NEIL HORSTCRAFT – Nicely-Nicely Johnson

Profile coming soon.

  Dino

DINO BISHOP – Benny Southstreet

LOS has become an all-consuming pastime for Dino since he joined in 1999, with rôles both on stage and behind the scenes. He loves the camaraderie (and opportunities for hanging around the bar) of the chorus, as well as the challenge (and chance to show off) of principal rôles; favourite parts include Gerald (Me and My Girl), Sowerberry (Oliver!) and Robin (Ruddigore).
  Don

DON BARR – Arvide Abernathy

DON was immersed in theatre and music from an early age; his father was the local church organist and his eldest brother produced plays at university (winning the Sunday Times One Act Play competition). He received an award of his own with a winning production at the Barnet Arts Festival, directing Semi-Detached for North Finchley Amateur Dramatic Society.
  Chris

CHRISTOPHER PECK – Harry the Horse

CHRISTOPHER has been what some might call an obsessed member since 1985, appearing in all but three shows since, even commuting from Scarborough twice weekly for rehearsals of our Blois production of Orpheus in the Underworld in 1989.
  Geoff

GEOFF TAYLOR – Lieutenant Branningan

GEOFF Taylor joined LOS in 1988 and has been a regular member of the male chorus ever since. As a former member of Her Majesty’s Constabulary he seems typecast as an honest, upstanding member of the law - previously playing a Court Usher in Trial By Jury, a policeman in Pirates of Penzance, a peeler in Oliver and a Lieutenant in the present show. Who knows, he might make Superintendent or even Chief Constable before he retires!
