It’s time to set sail on board HMS Pinafore!

Everyone’s favourite Gilbert and Sullivan show drops anchor at Lewes Town Hall from 4th to 7th October - but with a twist.

For the first time, Lewes Operatic Society is staging the hilarious new Australian version of the well-loved musical. The show was a sell-out hit down-under and looks set to take Lewes by storm. This is no ordinary G&S - the story zings along, fizzing with life. High octane dance routines see that the young sailors dance more than the occasional hornpipe!

The up-tempo score is played by a live electronic band, with some numbers being incorporated from elsewhere in the G&S repertoire. Traditionalists may not at first appreciate the show being freshened up for a 21st century audience - but everyone else will love the wacky characters and hilarious updated script.

Lewes Operatic Society has been bringing top musical theatre to Lewes since 1911 and, in recent years, has gained a well-earned reputation for being a lively young group staging ever-slicker productions.

See our production if you can - unless you’re a G&S purist (and then you certainly should not see it, because you might enjoy yourself!) It’s nautical - but nice.
