LOS has been bringing high quality musical theatre to Lewes since 1911. Staging our productions involves a lot of hard work for a cast and crew of about 80. In fact, LOS is made up of about 200 members of all ages and from all walks of life. We stage two productions each year, usually at Lewes Town Hall. In the past we have also toured local villages and we even take shows to our twin towns of Blois in France and Waldshut in Germany. The society often puts on concerts and performs at functions too.
Recent shows have included The Big Iolanthe, Fiddler on the Roof, The Boy Friend, Carousel, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Remember! Remember!, The King and I and The Gondoliers.
New members are always welcome! Besides performing, there’s lots to do behind the scenes and loads of social events throughout the year – trips to see West End shows, country walks with pub lunches, stoolball and dwyle-flunking matches, summer garden parties, a Christmas dinner-dance, quiz nights etc.. There is a cheap members’ bar (or even a members’ cheap bar), a quarterly news letter (The Tower Times) and priority booking on tickets.
So, whether or not you are a seasoned performer there is something in LOS for you
